Counseling Program

Newcomers Success Counseling Program – Employment bridging for immigrants. The major barriers immigrants face relates to lack of US work experience, lack of work contacts, language skills and recognition of foreign credentials. At the same time employers want immigrant employees to have good language skills and an understanding of the US work place culture. Each participant that enrolls in the program will have access to a variety of counseling programs. Depending on the participants needs and goals, the participant can receive:

  • Assessment of skills, qualifications and experience
  • Information, advice and guidance to help build a career plan
  • Information on how to look for work and on US workplace culture.
  • Language skills and upgrading of other skills required by employers in the industry.
  • Certification requirements for regulated occupations and connections with regulatory agencies.
  • Hands-on workplace experience through practicums, temporary employment, mentoring and other approaches.
  • Financial support to help with necessary upgrading.
